In conclusion to the hard fought campaign, residents of Windsor and Maidenhead have given their verdict at the polls. Returning 51 out of 57 councillors as Conservatives, residents in their thousands supported local Conservative candidates across every ward in the Borough, leaving just a handful of Independents and one Liberal Democrat remaining.

Local Liberal Democrats stand accused of deliberately misleading residents with their latest leaflets containing large false headlines, saying Borough assets are “FOR SALE” when they are not.
The leaflets, which have gone out around the Borough, make a series of false claims against the Conservatives.

A detailed analysis of the Liberal Democrat manifesto shows that it could cost over a staggering 30 million pounds to implement. A large component of this is would be the £19,000,000 capital cost of the Windsor Park and Ride, based on 2007 figures. This figure does not include the £1 million pound running costs.
