the poor state of roads in

In 2002 the Conservatives maintained the Borough's roads by ensuring that £1.5 million a year was spent on major repairs. The Liberal Democrats reduced this to £750,000 whilst at the same time increasing expenditure to many millions on unwanted call centres and building works at the Town Hall.
Bus services have not improved under the stewardship of the Liberal Democrats, indeed, the Audit Commission reported in 2005 that : "overall bus services are poor".
Cllr. Derek Wilson Spokesman on Highways and Transport said, "The Libdems cut investment in the roads with the consequence that our minor roads are amongst the worst in the country. We will be investing more to combat this trend, fixing potholes and resurfacing our roads."
Cllr. Wilson went on to say "We will work with local residents to improve bus routes, take clutter away from our streets and review yellow lines to free up more parking spaces in Windsor and Maidenhead."
Road safety measures - humps, bumps, speed cameras, flashing signs - are usually controversial and everyone has a view. Local Councillors are accountable to their electorate and are best place to represent the views of residents in their ward. As such, we will put in place measures that ensure local ward councillors have a big say in whether new projects proceed. Expenditure on these areas has also fallen under the Liberal Democrats - residents have had to rely on developer-funded schemes to implement local measures.
We Will :
Spend more money on fixing potholes and re-surfacing our roads
Review yellow lines to free up more parking spaces in Windsor & Maidenhead
Encourage walking and cycling
Listen to bus users and residents to seek improvements to bus routes
Declutter our roads and towns of superfluous signage and unnecessary urban furniture
Encourage car-sharing to reduce congestion
