"ALL TALK LIBDEMS" - repeatedly failing the residents of the Royal Borough. This is a catalogue of some of the more transparent failings of the last four years compared to what was promised in the 2003 Liberal Democrat manifesto and campaign to residents at the last local elections. Take a look to see if any of these have impacted you.

WHAT THEY SAID to get your vote in 2003 and WHAT THEY DID when they got into power
"Our manifesto will only cost 1.5% Council Tax increases per year" Put up Council Tax by 9%, 5%, 5% - and 4% in election year - cumulatively almost 25%
"We will increase the number of dog wardens" Cut the number of dog wardens from 2 under the Conservatives to a shared service with other local authorities - less than 1 full time warden
"Target congestion by taking necessary action to improve traffic flow" Removed lanes on the A308 in Windsor increasing pollution and congestion - against the consultation majority
"Abolish evening car park charges for Advantage Card permit holders" Many of the most popular evening car parking places are still charged for by the Council
"Expand CCTV" Hasn't happened
"Prudently manage the Council's finances" Hasn't happened - apart from the hike in Council Tax, reserves are down and the Borough's debt now stands at over £50 m
"Rigorously scrutinise plans for expensive new contact centres" Introduced a call centre that has annoyed lots of residents, failed to save money as planned, or offer the services intended.
"We will not be embarking on expensive pet projects" Embarked on costly Town Hall and council office refurbishment to the detriment of other community facilities including roads
"We will make sure that when we consult we listen and put your views first" On two major consultations arrogant Libdems have simply ignored the majority opinion of people that responded and pressed ahead regardless. March 2007 : started work on parking changes in Datchet even before the statutory consultation period had ended!
"Increase the opportunities provided to A level and Further Education students" Cut the discretionary student grant scheme to zero, one of their own Councillors is in charge of East Berkshire College - and it is closing down its Maidenhead campus.
"Introduce a fortnightly collection of garden waste" Adopted the Conservative policy of collecting glass for recycling instead, whilst delays in garden waste collection lengthened to six weeks or more!
"Work with bus companies to make services better" Government assessment in 2005 : "Overall bus services are poor" and "some partners would like greater priority to be given on this issue"
