You may have heard that Shanly Homes are bringing forward a development on the Desborough Bowling Club site. You may also have heard that this development had 0% affordable housing, compared to the minimum of 30% on all RBWM-owned sites.
With a housing affordability crisis it is unacceptable for developers to bring forward sites without any affordable housing.
Developers can currently claim that they cannot deliver affordable housing without reducing their profits, aka “viability”, this is an issue UK government is examining. In the meantime, RBWM will be robust with developers and explain that the days of brining forward schemes with 0% affordable on are over.
